Getting swept at home for the first time all season, the Chicago Cubs dropped their series finale against the Washington Nationals in extra innings. Full Story »
The Cubs will be lucky if they draw the 2nd wildcard, and frankly I don't believe they deserve even that. If they finish in 3rd place that may even be a stretch. Can't win on the road has carried over to Wrigley Field. Everyone shares some blame from the top down. You could almost sense it the first week of the season on how their season would develope. There have been some frustrating seasons but this season ranks in the top five.
It's just been one of the those years where nothing has seemed to work. Winning teams stay healthy, put together several winning streaks, and play at least .500 on the road. None of which the Cubs have accomplished. So I suppose as the saying goes "Wait until next year"
I'll be back in next year, rooting for the Cubs, like I have for 60 years, God willing.
